One needs to hold the end of the thread behind everything so that it is in a position like if you were sewing. Otherwise you will end with a bird's nest of thread in the bobbin area.
The bobbin area could use a good cleaning and polishing. It also looks like maybe the retaining ring is incorrectly located or missing. I can't really tell from the video There is are a couple of good blog posts about the 201 bobbin case and retaining ring at
