One of the first things to find out is if it's a "mid arm" which has only about 9" of throat space, which will be fine if you only do small quilts but larger ones will have trouble quilting them. I had a mega quilter when they first came out, I had so much trouble with it that I returned it and got my money back, and that was about 2005, after my mom died. You might check out a Bailey quilting machine, you can get either a sit down or a frame for very reasonable. I bought my 20" Bailey about 3 years ago and absolutely love it.
