From my own male perspective, I have to say that the type of quilt that appeals to me has strong, bright reds, greens, and blues. The pattern or subject matter means less to me. That said, I also like lighter pastels and brightly-colored batiks, but the pastels -wouldn't necessarily be my first choice. Growing up with a mother who quilted, and who raised the four of us by herself after my father's early death at age 39, maybe my feminine side is somewhat more developed than others, but I would like to think that the appreciation of beauty in whatever form is neither masculine nor feminine, but rather human.
