Default Drunkard’s Path finish

I have always loved Drunkard’s Path blocks, but I was nervous to try them. I bought a die for my Accuquilt cutter, and I decided to try it. The process was astonishingly painless. I used fat quarters for the fabrics, a collection from Connecting Threads, and DH decided he wanted a random, scrappy look. He chose the layout too (after all, the quilt is for his lap on cold days), and we decided to call it “Rising Moon.” I would probably have chosen something dull like a traditional 4 block with the circle in the middle. I used Quilter’s Dream wool batting and a simple meander to keep the loft. Binding is applied by machine as I always do, and this time I used a serpentine stitch. It has been machine washed and machine dried, and the texture and softness are just luscious. I will definitely be making more quilts with this block.
