When I've had to store a quilt on a frame, I took the side boards off and rolled up the quilt on the boards. Or just leaned the whole thing up against a wall.
The only thing that may be of concern is, I've heard that wood can stain fabrics. But if the only part that's touching the wood will be cut off or put in a binding, then you wouldn't have to worry.
