Walmart has done a lot of restructuring of their fabric departments in the last couple of years. In my local store it was taken out completely, then put back in.

A year (two now??) ago they purged a lot of stuff at $1/yard. Some of us here made some tremendous buys. Since then, while there is still some yardage most of the shelves have been replaced for hangers of various sizes of precuts, 1 and 3 yards mostly. I only picked up about 20 yards myself and have used all but two pieces, one of which will be the back on a future project and yes, (despite being in the fabric moratorium) I did add one large piece of striped yardage to the stash just because I liked it

I have always been happy to look at and use some Walmart fabrics. Some are "craft" level, some are "quilting" level, and you have to go bolt by bolt and feel by feel to decide which is which.
