Those are really cute, Thimblebug.

I spent the morning trying to decide what to do for a backing for the art quilt that measures 3' x 8'. I didn't have enough of anything that would work, so I decided to dye/paint a piece of fabric for it. After mixing a gazillion different colors and adding in an equal amount of textile medium I was able to get a nice deep gray that has a bit of sparkle and used that to over-dye/paint a truly ugly piece of brown fabric that is exactly the right size. It's now wadded up on my table along with the mop up fabric (a hideously ugly pink that looks much better now with its over-dye/paint of deep sparkly gray). They will both stay wadded up until dry (a couple of days most likely) then I will heat set the paint. Keeping them wadded up allows some wicking action that gives a nice subtle tone on tone effect. Glad to have finally made a decision on that one.

Now on to the butterfly...
