That's a good idea Watson. I have a piece of Christmas fabric that I 'Fractured' and since it ended up similar to yours (long and skinny) I am planning on making placemats out of it too.
Thanks for the info. For a bed sized quilt I'll bet you could use jelly roll strips. But I think I will look for a pattern to make a bed sized quilt instead of trying to figure it out on my own.
