What a wonderful thing. Tom Petty was always part of my musical life, I remember particularly waiting for 1979's Damn the Torpedos to get to my record shop... I think I was able to see him in concert 3 times, I know it was at least two and they were both around my birthday. Lucinda Williams was supposed to open once but got her own tour, so I saw the Blind Boys of Alabama. The other time I'm sure of it was Steve Winwood who opened. The third time I don't remember the opening act which is why I'm confused.

I have a friend who is a super fan, she's gone to/given some of the memorial parties and such. I'll forward this link to her -- she'll get such a kick.
