I checked my container of De-Solve, it does say safe for wood but I'd definitely test it first.

For home remedies, peanut butter can be rubbed on sticky things (like price tag adhesive) to get it out. The oil may show the wood surface needs a treatment but shouldn't hurt it.

Likewise, you might try some wax furniture polish, don't know about things like Endust. I was looking up hints and found it suggested to make tacky paint on a plastic surface dry. It did work (not right away but eventually) and now I have a mostly full bottle in my supplies of stuff as well as a non-tacky plastic mask.
