I never put much thought to other fabrics than cotton for quilting once I learned many many years ago about polyesters. Cotton is a safe fabric to use that can last more than 100 years if treated properly. I don't know about the foot print is leaves or how others hold up for the long run. Cotton too is bio-degradable, it just takes longer . I will stick with what is familiar to me.
