i would never connect my fridge to the internet.

i do like having the water filter, though.

check your fridge settings.
mine has one to "reset" the filter whatchamagig after installing a new one.
odds are that you could take an old filter out, put it back in, and then use the reset.

you can also probably buy a generic version for just about any make/model refrigerator.
the brand name filter for mine is $70 for a 3-month filter.
i bought 3 6-month generics for under $40.
they work every bit as well.
