Take a look at the piece you want to buy, it's intended use and your pocketbook!

i just wanted to say that your comment pretty much sums up my experience and way of thinking. I find that I have the most fun when my projects are not limited by arbitrary rules. Rules like “always only use cotton for piecing,” “always press to the dark,” and ”the only fabrics worth sewing are X fabrics.” When I allow myself to have exceptions to these rules, I always discover something and sometimes I make something fabulous!
