There is a product called Retro Clean. Never tried it, but think it's a great idea.
I used Retro Clean on some vintage Grandmother's F!ower Garden blocks I bought at a quilt show. They came out so clean I wanted to tea dye them to make them look more vintage! Good, clean, not overpowering scent also.
