For my likings, it would be a no, as I feel that again you'd lose the kaleido effect.
I've been trying to find an option with the same fabric.
But, sorry, I haven't had any brainwaves!
Granted I am pretty brain-dead these days too.

This one could be done with the hexie fully assembled
with an extra triangles sewn on opposite sides of the hexie.
Otherwise, I would sit down with that hexie paper, and colour away,
to see what I could design for fully assembled hexies.
And I bet you will come up with something totally unique and amazing!!!
I'll be looking forward to seeing what results!
