Modified from Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management:
Winter Pea Soup (Yellow)
1 lb split peas (yellow)
1 ham steak with the bone in it
1 onion
2 carrots
couple stalks of celery
soak the peas overnight. Rinse the them the next day & put them into a crockpot. Cut up the onion, carrots, and celery; add them to the crockpot. Cube the ham steak & add to the crockpot.
Cook on low heat until the peas fall apart. Stir to mix up the soup.
Serve with garlic bread. Should serve about 12 people.
