I'm trying to figure out how to say this. When I made a tumbler quilt, I started seeing the same thing - and then I realized the first row has to start with a set with the longer side on top and the next row has to start with the smaller side on top. I ended up having to take a set from the second row, split it and put one on each end of the second row. Hope this is clearer than mud.
