I save the the $35 off the original price with first reduction and then save the savings of 35% off the extra reduction price. In the example, would have saved $57.75 from original price. That's how I figure the savings on % off clearance.
Interesting - you figured out how much you would "save" from the original price.

I was figuring out how much I would still have to pay.

57.75 + 42.25 = $100.00
