I am a long-time New Mexican I who grew up in Illinois. Winter here, compared to the Midwest and Northeast, is comical. My line about snow here in the central area is that you get the best of both worlds— a beautiful drive to work in the morning with snow blanketing everything but by noon it is usually gone. By the end of the day, the roads are mostly dry. That is how most snow goes in my neck of the woods. The sun is out here again now, and my street has self-cleaned itself of snow.
Snow is almost always fleeting here. I love the climate in my home state.
