I think that will work much better, now my concern is are the gold and brown really different enough? You might look at them together in a black & white photo. Or, one of my contrast tricks is to cut a tiny scrap (like an inch square) and lay it in the middle of the other fabric, if I can see it clearly that's good... if I have to look for it, not enough contrast. There are other "from 6 feet away" variations.

And it is after last year and the hand dyes that makes me seriously consider doing the one fabric each option this year instead of the scrappy! LOL it was the quilting equivalent of the stories that start/end with "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
