Lots of suggestions, and I haven't done this for years but I just used regular Crayola crayons, but once the colouring was completed, put it face down on paper toweling and wax paper to protect the iron on the backside, and ironed it, until the picture actually shows through to the backside, so you know that the wax has melted.
