i rarely bury the thread tails.
i either use the machine lock stitch or do reinforcing back and forth stitching.
then i clip them close to the back.
sometimes i will put a dab of glue on the knot for extra insurance.
(that's mostly for psychological reasons. i haven't yet had anything come loose.)
