It seems like a deal to me. I do not have the space for anything larger than 72 inches wide. I tend to do sections than entire quilts when I am looking at a design. It would definitely be cheaper than batting unless you get a super sale at Joann's. Felt works well. I use felt making book marks and it stays put on the stabilizer when I am tacking it down. and if you want it on the plaster board all you have to so is pin/tack it on or glue is on.
