I have never sewed my finger, but every time I change the needle I manage to jab myself really good. Many years ago one of my SIL's was trying to learn to sew. She wasn't paying attention and pressed the foot peddle real hard. Not only did she put the needle through her fingernail, but added a couple more stitched for good measure before she had the sense to lift up her foot. The last stitch went almost half way through the bone. Her dad just took a plyers and pulled it out. The site of blood doesn't bother me ( I grew up with 7 older brothers and a sister, also have 4 of my own) but I do think that having that needle go through the bone would have made me ralph.
