My DH loves salmon - I can take it or leave it. I am allergic to it, that and tuna will make my mouth feel like it's on fire. The first time it happened I couldn't figure out what was happening. But there is something in mayo that neutralizes it so I just smother it with tarter sauce. When I was in the hospital a year ago the doctor said if I could keep my lunch down he would let me go home that day. They brought me poached salmon for lunch with no sauce, I started to eat it - but the allergy kicked in, my husband came in as I was trying to decide whether or not to flush it down the toilet. He was happy to eat it for me. Everything else stayed down, so I didn't feel bad about not eating the salmon.
