Our guild has made blocks as well. The blocks have a theme...fav. colors of the president and/or their favorite interests such as : love cats, gardening etc. Each member signs their name and dates the blocks.
With 2 presidents to thank, I bet a gift card to a fabric store would be appreciated...and maybe 1 block all members could sign.
