I think it must be a variation of Winding Ways. I found one with a center 4P that could easily be one square , called a No Curve Winding Ways, but it has more seams than the old quilt top in Patsy's photo. The one I found is made with HST and Tri Recs rulers. This is as close as I have found so far, so thank you for putting me on the right track with Winding Ways. Wish I could find a free paper WW pattern template. I don't want to buy rulers or have no die cutting machine, but want to put this on my to-make-list.
