I'm the same way, once I start a quilt I can't stop until it's done. I've been known to put in many 8 hour days until my fingers are sore & bleeding but I can't stop. I usually pick out the fabric first & then the design tho.
My mom is the same way! She is hand quilting an Irish Chain quilt she is making right now and she called the other day to catch up and was telling me how sore her fingers are from quilting because it has been so long since she has done it!
