I recently purchased a 1904 Singer 27-4 treadle machine and cabinet. There were a couple of curious things in the drawers but I want to concentrate on these two oddments.

What the heck are they?

Both ends are scooped and they appear to be made of ivory. The black bits in the middle are of metal and feel the same as a carpenters file. There's no commercial markings on them which doesn't help.

I am stumped.
