In Japanese, the word Janome (pronounced Ja-NO-me) means "eye of the snake."
I doubt that the model number is 14 - Does it have a JA in front of the "14" Usually the model number is on the serial number tag or sometimes the first few digits of a serial number.
From my understanding there is a Vintage Sewing Machine - Non-Singer group either on io or facebook.
