Do you think it's alright to take the hand wheel off and let it soak in a cleaner? I took it off and let it soak in SMO but it really made no different. That knuckling really hold on to stuff. Maybe something like the gojo with no pumice?
If it were mine, I would take it off and put it in an oxy-clean solution or put it in a bowl in a sink, sprinkle baking soda on it and then pour some vinegar on it. Then I would probably let it soak for a minute or two and take an old toothbrush to it. I would rinse off and put in the sun or take a hair dryer to it. Just make sure it is completely dry before putting it back on.
