I understand a Crazy quilt to be another type of scrap quilt. When I googled it, it showed lots of them using mixed types of fabric including velvet that was then top stitched in some sort of stitch. Zig Zag or blanket stitch. Some do seem to use ric rac (I think that it is called) or other embellishments. Hope this helps.
