The responses to your question/problem so far are to do with lining up your fabric in some manner to get a scant 1/4" seam allowance, but what I'm getting from your post is that the machine needle and feed dogs will not LET you make 1/4" seam on that Singer machine. If I'm understanding you correctly, the only thing I would suggest is that you cut your quilt pieces large enough to accommodate a larger than 1/4" seam allowance (perhaps 1/8" larger????). If I'm misunderstanding what you are asking, then just forget I ever said a thing!
