Thank you guys for the input!! I ended up figuring it out and I took that whole assembly apart. The rod was pushed up against the area where the thread passes behind the bobbin so I took the grease cup off of the other end of the rod, loosened the set screw in the gear and pounded the rod a couple millimeters further in, back in working order!
