I did this! =)
I "outlined" each tshirt with flannel strips on all four sides. Then I squared them up (some strips ended up being smaller than others, it depeneded on the tshirt) put another piece of flannel as backing and quilted each square individually. Then I sewed the squares together like a regular rag quilt.
