Illinois mentioned “I Spy Quilts”. I make these and I put 2 identical blocks in each top so they can play a match game. He’s too young for this now, but you could start collecting fabric. The current one I’m doing is a 9 patch with 5” blocks. The center is a solid fabric. A lot of quilt patterns work for I Spy.
