What do you mean out of whack? Is the post bent, is the check spring missing or in the wrong position? Are you threading while the presser foot is up? Are you adjusting the tension when the presser foot is down? Is it crooked, so that you can not turn it? There is a video about removing and replacing one that looks like the same as yours at
