I think it would depend on the quilt. If there is a top and bottom, then I would do it like
@aashley333 . But if it was an all over pattern, like a trip around the world quilt, I would make the borders so the bottom of the directional print faced the middle. Then it would be right side up no matter how the quilt was oriented. I think the best thing to do is to audition it so you can see what it looks like. Don't forget to take a pic so you can compare.
