warm wishes is a nice pattern to showcase a focus fabric.
the big squares can be made whatever size you want them.
You might also consider making "windows" cut in a piece of paper to see how the fabric would "fussy cut" - before you actually cut your fabric. Sometimes I would use a white chalk pencil to mark around the areas to maximize how many squares I could get. Sometimes I just abandoned the whole piece of fabric for another day/purpose.
When cutting fabrics for I Spy squares, some fabrics were "happy" in a five inch window - others were "happier" in a different sized window.
