I've made several of Cozy Quilt patterns. I really like making them. I use the actual
strip tube ruler and have never had a problem with the patterns. I haven't made the 9 Sisters pattern, but I have it. I recently made the TradeWinds pattern for two of my grand-daughters. Had no issues at all.
When I have extra pieces left of the strip tube, I take out the stitching and use them for other things.
On one of the patterns that MSQC makes, they made pillows out of the left over strip tube pieces, this was the Summer Squares pattern.
