I believe that the tradition to name flora is to use Latin. Wild Rose would be Rosa Fera.
I don't know what the tradition is with respect to naming machinery or the tradition of naming flora on machines. I kind of like it because "ferrum" is Latin for iron which is what the machine was made of.
Just a thought.
