To add to Lena's ideas, you could also have the usable parts turned into a throw pillow or even framed. So much depends on what it is about the quilt you most want to preserve/cherish/remember. If you want to continue having a quilt to snuggle with but not risk more damage, you could see if someone could try to remake it using fabrics that are as close as possible to the original. I also agree - a local quilt guild would be a good place to start asking questions. All the best to you in your quest.
