My easiest (and most fun for me) was inspired by the cover quilt from a book (now packed) that I think was called “Modern Baby.”

All I did was sew bright vertical strips together and then cut them out in the shape of a fish. Then I made a bunch of turned -under circles of different sizes for the bubbles. Appliqued them down, quilted edge-to-edge over the appliques in a sine wave pattern, kind of like waves in the water, finished with a bright flanged binding and a ruffle. It was adorable.

The important part there was the dark blue marbled background that kind of looked like water and also figuring out how to make perfect and indestructible circles. The quilt was for tummy time and was washed to death, and yup, everything stayed put.

Watching my grandson try to pick up the circles from the quilt was priceless. 😆

hugs, charlotte
