My grandmother had a countertop french fry cutter and it worked great. A veg o matic I think. My grands love mashed potatoes but I don't like peeling potatoes at all, seems a big waste of my time. I thought if I had a french fry cutter I could save so much time, no peeling and no cutting. I didn't want one that was big and costly. I found this one at Walmart and I am very pleased with it. It was easy to use and I put in a big baking potato to try and it cut with ease. Big long cuts. Perfect for baking scallop potatoes too.
