We live in East Tennessee. My parents had an above ground pool in a partially shaded backyard. The water stayed cool (not crazy cold) all season unless it was sweltering hot for several days in a row. Even then the water didn’t get uncomfortably warm. It was not really a problem because once you get in the water and splash around a bit you get used to the temperature.
It was daily work for Dad to keep the leaves out. On the plus side, it was normally just he and Mom in the pool so he used minimal chemicals and the water stayed clean without a lot of wear and tear on their skin, hair, and clothes. They could even get in the water and get back out and not have to shower to get the smell off them.
I’d say if you have your heart set on a pool and don’t mind the cooler water, you should move ahead.
