Is it possible it was close to where the dog was chewing? When my little dog goes on one of his rants, he shakes the object. (He loves the pillow covers in the second bedroom, especially when he doesn't get his way.) He's not chewing, he holding the object in his teeth and shaking it (he's going in for the kill).

That's a possibility, bkay. My dogs do the same. The young one got my old thin hoodie and when I picked it up, it had breaks in the fabric where she was holding it.
