I've recently tried the glue stick for needle turn applique.. l iron the freezer pattern piece to the back of the fabric piece l'm using, and cut out the shape with nearly 1/ 4 " seam allowance. Normally, l finger pressed the seam allowance back, then stitched most of the way around, then pulled out the paper just before closing off the shape. Now, l still finger press, but then use glue stick on seam allowsnce, remove paper and stick the seam allowance down. I find this very helpfull for narrow and odd dhsped smaller pieces. I then sew them in place with blind stitch.
