What size is 134 and 134R? I've owned a longarm for 6 years and have never heard those numbers. I usually use a size 16 or 18, as someone else previously mentioned. Smaller needles will flex and therefore miss picking up the bobbin thread, which results in skipped stitches.
Another problem could be the tightness of your quilt sandwich. If it's *too* tight, it can skip. Try loosening the tension of the quilt sandwich itself, NOT the thread tension.
