Planning on my first quilt
Hi, I haven't posted much but I read things since I've joined. As 66 yrs old man and new to this as it is my plan is to make my son who's 37 now, single. I'm part of a quilting group at my church so I've been learning from some 20 and 30 year women, really helpful. Is it out of my league to consider doing a granny patchwork quilt. skip the HST for now, lol oh I might add a few here and there. But I'd like to make a queen size with finished 6" squares. I saw a grandmother quilt with various material squares, so I was thinking of a charm pack, but I'd want a good quality cotton, oh it's so confusing. I'm just asking if its doable. I have all the tools I need and can make good squares. I know there's a lot more to it that that, but I'm very willing and I "can" do it. I just saw this quilt that looked like something you hand down. and I thought, no one cares if a man or a women makes it, it's an heirloom for a long time. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Thank you, Dale
