OMG, Debbie, your story reminds me of when I had one of my older sons hold one of their baby brothers (newborn), there was no love there whatsoever, and within a few minutes after setting new baby on dear son's lap, older son said to me,
"okay mom, can you take it now".
I was moms go-for until about age 8... she'd call out to me at changing time, quick, go get me a diaper... I need a pair of rubber pants... a baby washcloth... and of course part way through her changing a baby sibling she'd pass me the wet or dirty diaper to take to the bathroom to put in the diaper pail.
By age 8 though, I was making bottles and changing diapers all on my own, and remember taking my baby siblings out for a walk around the block in baby buggy/carriage to show off my new baby siblings to all the neighbourhood moms. So proud I was.
